Tottenham Hotspur have opened initial talks for the signature of Torino centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old defender has been heavily linked with a move away from Torino in the approaching window.

AC Milan have been interested in him since January and even Napoli are keen to take him away from Torino in the coming months.

However, the two Italian clubs are set to face competition from the Premier League in their pursuit of Buongiorno in the summer window.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, Tottenham are interested in getting their hands on the centre-back in the coming months.

Spurs are already making a move towards trying to secure a deal for the Torino defender ahead of next season.

Initial talks are under way as Tottenham try to ‘understand the costs of the operation’ to sign him.

Torino are prepared to let him go if a club are ready to meet their €35m asking price for the defender.

The Italian club have already rejected an offer of €25m plus Leo Ostigard from Napoli for the 24-year-old centre-back.
