Newcastle in Pole Position for Fabrice Pancrate

Print for later?

Saturday, 14th November 2009

Newcastle United could be on the road to making their most significant signing of the season if reports coming from France are to be believed. Respected magazine France Football claim that Fabrice Pancrate is on trial with the club and could ink a three-year deal within days.

Pancrate, a winger and forward, has been out of contract since his deal with Paris-Saint Germain expired. He has been continuing to train with the Ligue 1 club and had received interest from Sochaux, following their US international Charlie Davies car accident, Strasbourg, Nantes and English Championship side Cardiff City. Newcastle now seem at the front of the queue however.

Pancrate is a fast tricky winger who has enjoyed a spell in Spain with Real Betis, turning out on loan for the La Liga side in 2007.
