Love him or hate him, Michel Platini has a similar vision, trying to reform the Champions League to give clubs from smaller countries a more equal piece of the pie. So the argument goes, if they have more money and opportunity, their leagues will grow further and quicker and maybe they will be able to hold on to some of that talent that naturally gravitates westwards.

The Champions League is also giving us an opportunity to see teams from beyond our own borders and Inside Futbol will give you a closer look at their players, politics and league as a whole.
