The possibility of Ronaldinho moving back home to Brazil to join former club Gremio has taken a step forward after the player’s brother, who also serves as his agent, was reported to have been in contact with the club.

This season is widely expected to be Ronaldinho’s last at AC Milan and the question being asked is ‘where next?’ and ‘when?’. Any Brazilian clubs interested in the former Barcelona star would prefer a deal in January, to see the player join up with his new team-mates before the 2011 domestic season kicks off. However, a summer move is still thought more likely.

"There is advanced contact between Gremio and the brother and agent of the player", Gremio announced. Club president Paulo Odone has also expressed his "optimism" that the deal can be done.
