Real Madrid could complete a shock swoop for Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor according to reports from Spain. Los Blancos need to add another striker to their squad this January, especially given Gonzalo Higuain’s absence through injury, and Adebayor may be an option that suits.

Los Blancos have considered launching big-money moves to bring in a renowned name, but Jose Mourinho would rather wait until the summer to do any serious business, and the Spanish side did have a bid of €25M for Edin Dzeko rejected last month – they do not want to engage in a bidding war for the Bosnian.

Thus, the name of Adebayor has been floated and linked to Real by Madrid-based daily Marca. The thinking in the Bernabeu is that Los Blancos could take the out-of-favour City striker on loan until the end of the season. The Togo hitman would bolster Mourinho’s squad, but also keep his powder dry for next summer, if another forward is still required when Higuain returns from injury.
