Lazio are believed to have added Ruud van Nistelrooy to the list of strikers they are considering for next season.
The Dutchman currently turns out with Hamburg in the Bundesliga, but as the will-he-or-won’t-he transfer saga involving Real Madrid in January appeared to prove, the former Manchester United striker retains much of his ambition.
The Serie A side are thought ready to offer Van Nistelrooy a contract running until 2012, but with the option for another year in Rome if all parties are content.
Under Edy Reja, the capital city club are enjoying a superb campaign and currently sit fourth in Serie A. Should Lazio keep up their form, there is every possibility Champions League qualification could be secured, making the club an even more attractive proposition to Van Nistelrooy.
