Manchester United have been warned against pursuing Borussia Dortmund’s exciting young midfield prospect Mario Goetze.

The Red Devils have been strongly linked with a move for the 18-year-old Germany international, but Bundesliga champions-elect Dortmund are not willing to play ball with United or anyone else.

"I invite the presidents of other clubs not to waste their time", said Dortmund’s president Hans-Joachim Watzke to Bild when questioned about the future of Goetze.

"Mario is not for sale, not even for €15M. He has a contract until 2014 and I expect him to respect it."

Watzke’s words are unlikely to discourage potential suitors, including United, from trying their luck however. Goetze is widely tipped to be the next big thing in German football and even a deal worth €20M could be considered a snip if the midfielder continues his progress.

However, with Dortmund set to play in next season’s Champions League, the Ruhr giants will be in a strong position to block the youngster’s departure.
