Barcelona coach Josep Guardiola has a summer transfer budget of €45M at his disposal, leading to difficult decisions needing to be taken at the Camp Nou.

The European Champions have been linked with a renewed bid for Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas, a move for Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez and also involvement in the race for Santos striker Neymar. But with each set to cost at least €45M, Guardiola has some tough choices to make.

"We must keep in mind two things", explained Barcelona vice-president Javier Fausse.

"One, that the team must always continue to be changed, and two that we cannot continue to lose money."

Barcelona have been working hard to reduce their debt and last season the amount owed was brought down from €532M to €483M. The club’s sponsorship deal with the Qatar Foundation also looks likely to help bring this down further.

The purse strings will be tight though for summer arrivals, although Guardiola could add to his kitty by selling some of his current squad.

"We must continue to work to get out of the red", said Fausse, warning that, "otherwise the club ends up in the hands of the banks."
