Barcelona’s promising midfielder Thiago Alcantara could move to Chelsea this summer if he feels his first team chances at the Camp Nou are limited.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, while the 20-year-old would prefer to remain with Josep Guardiola’s side, he is well aware that his minutes on the pitch will be limited while Xavi and Andres Iniesta continue to pull the strings of the European Champions, and Chelsea would be his favoured destination.

And talk that Cesc Fabregas could arrive from Arsenal, a move which would push the former Flamengo youth team product even further down the midfield pecking order, has caused the player to think about where he would go if an exit from Barcelona became a reality.

Chelsea are thought to have tracked Thiago Alcantara extensively, as have a raft of top European clubs, but have had little indication until now that the Spaniard would consider quitting the Camp Nou for Stamford Bridge.

But Alcantara is thinking of life after Barcelona; Chelsea are at the top of his list, with the youngster a big fan of new Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas, and also believing that his style of football would suit the Stamford Bridge side perfectly.

Often labelled a "little Xavi", Alcantara has taken great strides with his game over the past year. Currently starring with Spain’s Under-21 side at the European Championships in Denmark, the 20-year-old will be an attractive prospect for Chelsea, who will no doubt take note of the midfielder’s desire.
