Wolfsburg are eyeing up a move for Lyon’s midfield schemer Miralem Pjanic.

The Bosnian star is growing concerned that the amount of competition for a first team spot at the Stade Gerland is stunting his development, and according to L’Equipe is ready to quit Les Gones.

And this is music to Wolfsburg’s ears.

The Bundesliga outfit are preparing to ship out Brazilian midfielder Diego and want a player in a similar mould. Pjanic, long a target for the Volkswagen Arena club, would fit the bill perfectly.

Pjanic is under contract with Lyon until 2013 and the French side will not easily allow the 21-year-old to depart.

However, with Wolfsburg believed to be willing to offer up to €12M for the midfielder, Lyon could yet choose to cash in.
