Liverpool have been linked with a move for Lyon left back Aly Cissokho.

The Reds have been searching high and low for a quality left back to bring to Anfield this summer. Frenchman Gael Clichy was the club’s first choice, but he snubbed Liverpool to join Manchester City, while second choice pick Jose Enrique looks to have been priced out of a switch; the Magpies want £15M for the Spaniard.

This has caused Liverpool’s director of football Damien Comolli to investigate the possibility of signing Cissokho from Lyon, according to France Football.

The 23-year-old was disappointing at times for Les Gones last season, but is still rated as one of the most promising left backs in world football.

Lyon themselves paid €15M to take Cissokho to the Stade Gerland in 2009, swooping to take the player from FC Porto after a proposed move to AC Milan broke down due to issues arising from a medical.

Porto remain eligible for 20% of any fee Lyon receive for Cissokho however.
