Anderlecht forward Romelu Lukaku’s proposed transfer to Chelsea is being held up by the various parties that have a claim to commission from the eventual fee.
Chelsea remain keen to add Lukaku and negotiations between themselves and Anderlecht are advanced, with the Belgian club’s president Herman Van Holsbeeck having travelled to London to continue discussions yesterday.
But according to Belgian paper La Derniere Heure, claims to a proportion of the transfer fee through commission are held by a number of agents, including Romelu Lukaku’s father, Roger Lukaku.
And it is this which is complicating the young striker’s proposed transfer to Stamford Bridge, with Anderlecht needing to demand a higher price to take into account the money which will be deducted from the final total.
Anderlecht are hoping to secure a minimum of €15M for the 18-year-old, which, when commission payments are taken into account, translates into a transfer fee of €20M.
Chelsea have been unwilling to go quite that high and have still not made a formal offer to the Belgian giants for Lukaku.
The powerful young striker, who has garnered many comparisons with Chelsea hitman Didier Drogba, remains coveted throughout Europe, but it is Andre Villas-Boas’ team that remain in the driving seat and Van Holsbeeck is hopeful a deal can be worked out with the Premier League giants.
