Carlos Tevez’ proposed move to Brazilian side Corinthians is in danger of total collapse after the South American giants pulled out of the deal.

Corinthians had agreed a fee with Manchester City for Tevez, who is desperate to move closer to his daughters in Argentina, but there has been a dispute over the payment terms of the proposed transfer.

City thought that a deal was well on the way to completion, with the Eastlands’ side receiving around £40M for the Argentina star, but now Corinthians look to have pulled the plug, citing the upcoming close of the Brazilian transfer window as a reason to shut down the move.

"The board of Sporting Club Corinthians hereby officially announce the impossibility of hiring the Argentine striker Carlos Tevez", read a statement released by the Brazilian side.

"While acknowledging the efforts of Manchester City and all involved in the negotiation, more time is needed for the transfer to be achieved, given that the window to sign players from abroad closes on Wednesday, 20th July.

"We are aware of the dream our fans had of having this player at Corinthians again and we look forward to him being with us in the near future."

If there are no late developments to push through the move, Tevez will be forced to look elsewhere for an escape route from Eastlands. And should that fail and the Argentine remain, it could cause City to reconsider their proposed capture of the striker’s countryman, Sergio Aguero, from Atletico Madrid.
