New Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will be unveiled later today at Atletico Madrid.

The Belgian shot-stopper only joined the English Premier League giants earlier this week, making the move from Jupiler League champions Genk after a transfer was agreed.

Courtois was expected to be loaned back to the Belgian side, but the Blues have bigger plans for the 19-year-old and believe a spell in the Spanish capital, playing in La Liga, would undoubtedly benefit him more.

"Based on discussions with the manager and Chelsea, I felt that I really wanted to go to Atletico", revealed Courtois to TV Limburg.

"I hope that I’ll be well received, but I think that this will happen."

Courtois also expressed his desire to bid farewell to Genk’s fans, confirming he said his goodbyes to his former team-mates this week.

"I hope I can say goodbye to the fans. I took my leave of the players this week, but I hope to thank the fans in the future."
