Youssouf Mulumbu has ended speculation about a potential move to Fiorentina by signing a new contract at West Brom.

The midfielder was targeted by La Viola earlier this summer and the Italians had continued to watch the 24-year-old’s situation at the Hawthornes with interest.

But now Mulumbu has committed to West Brom until 2015 in a deal contract that manager Roy Hodgson was quick to point out the player deserved.

"We’re looking forward to seeing him build on his success", said Hodgson.

"It is great that Youssouf has been rewarded for his efforts."

Mulumbu joined West Brom in 2009 from Paris Saint-Germain where he had failed to establish himself in the first team.
