Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala have been linked with a surprising swoop for Spanish striker Raul.
The former Real Madrid legend now plays his football with Bundesliga club Schalke and settled in quickly to German football last season.
But while Raul appears happy with the Ruhr giants and also won the German Cup last season, a move to Russia could yet prove appealing.
Anzhi have big plans and have spent accordingly, with the Russian side able to boast Roberto Carlos, Diego Tardelli, Balazs Dzsudzsak and Mbark Boussoufa on the books.
And the Russian club would also be guaranteed to offer Raul one last big pay day.
Schalke however are keen to keep hold of the 34-year-old, viewing him as vital weapon in their bid to challenge for this season’s Bundesliga title.
