Ajax have announced they have agreed a fee with Roma for Dutch international goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.
The Giallorossi had been targeting Espanyol shot-stopper Carlos Kameni, but have renewed their earlier interest in Stekelenburg and are now close to pushing through a deal.
Ajax will take €6M for the 28-year-old, with the Dutchman ready to make the Italian capital his home.
Roma have offered Stekelenburg a four-year contract worth €1M per year.
This should prove acceptable to the keeper and the Dutchman passed his medical in Rome earlier today.
Roma coach Luis Enrique had been on the lookout for a new first choice keeper and Brazilian Doni was offloaded to Liverpool earlier this summer to free up space on the wage bill.
