Inter are thought to have informed Lyon that they would be prepared to send a cash sum plus McDonald Mariga to the Stade Gerland for Michel Bastos.
The Brazilian full back has been linked with a move to Juventus for most of the summer and the player himself is keen to land in Serie A. But, with the trail to Turin having gone cold, Bastos could instead pitch up in Milan.
Lyon could be tempted by the inclusion of Mariga in any deal. The tough-tackling midfielder has popped up on the French giants’ radar previously.
Inter though would need to send a set amount plus the Kenyan international for Lyon to consider accepting the bid.
Mariga would no doubt be open to the swap as his first team opportunities at the Nerazzurri look limited.
Interest from Inter though could yet force Juventus to step up their move for 28-year-old Bastos.
