Roma must improve their offer for Marseille midfielder Lucho Gonzalez – that is the view of the French club’s sporting director Jose Anigo.

The Giallorossi are keen on the Argentine and had seemed to be moving closer towards agreeing a deal with Marseille at one point, but it now appears as if talks have hit a dead end.

And the Ligue 1 giants are clear that Gonzalez will not be allowed to join Luis Enrique’s Roma revolution unless the offer is right.

"At present Roma have not made much progress on the issue of Lucho", explained Anigo to Radio Monte Carlo.

"They try to negotiate, to discuss, but our position is clear.

"The player wants to move on, but for him to do so it must be a financial [case[]."
