French champions Lille have let Arsenal know that if Eden Hazard is to end up at the Emirates then a bid of €30M will need to be made by Arsene Wenger’s side.
Wenger has been toying with the idea of moving for the Belgian forward, but is well aware that, under contract until 2015 with Lille, the player would command a record transfer fee for the English club.
And according to Belgian newspaper Het Laaste Nieuws, Lille have now indicated exactly what that amount would need to be.
The northern French side do not want to lose the 20-year-old, especially having already bid farewell to Ivory Coast forward Gervinho this summer; the 24-year-old moved to Arsenal in July.
But while Rudi Garcia wants to keep hold of Hazard, seeing the forward as the most important part of the side’s Ligue 1 title defence, the Lille boss understands that were Arsenal to come up with €30M, then realistically the 2010/11 Ligue 1 Player of the Year would leave.
Lille have watched with interest as the Gunners have sold Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona, while Arsenal are also on the verge of selling Samir Nasri to Manchester City.
These sales, plus that of Emmanuel Eboue to Galatasaray, have seen cash flow into the Emirates coffers and, if Lille are to part company with the jewel in their crown, the French outfit are determined it will only be for an exorbitant transfer fee.
