Germany are the first team to have qualified for the Euro 2012 finals.

Joachim Low’s team impressed with a 6-2 defeat of Austria last night, cementing their place as group leaders after eight wins in eight games.

The Nationalmannschaft offered a convincing display in front of 53,500 spectators in the sold-out Arena Auf Schalke, outplaying their southern neighbours for the majority of the encounter.

With an average age of only 23.6 years, the young German squad continued their winning streak in a dazzling manner, after beating Brazil 3-2 just three weeks ago.

Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil shone by scoring two goals and playing an integral part in Germany’s first strike, netted by Roma’s Miroslav Klose in the 8th minute.

The pair were joined by Lukas Podolski (Koln), Toni Kroos (Bayern Munich), Andre Schurrle (Leverkusen) and Mario Gotze (Dortmund), who all ended up with one goal each.
