English Premier League outfit Blackburn Rovers are preparing to add a third Spaniard to their squad in the shape of Celta Vigo left-back-cum-left-midfielder Roberto Lago.

Rovers, who already boast Michel Salgado and Ruben Rochina amongst their ranks, have been confirmed as admirers of Lago by Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.

The 26-year-old has made real progress over the last 18 months, with La Liga side Villarreal known to have been keeping tabs on his rapid development.

Blackburn therefore may have to battle the Yellow Submarine for Lago’s signature.

The Celta Vigo youth product has been a virtual ever present in the club’s starting eleven since breaking through to the first team in the 2007/08 campaign.

Lago is under contract with Los Celestes until 2014.
