Anzhi Makhachkala are stepping up their efforts to ensure Fabio Capello heads to Russia after Euro 2012.

Capello will quit as England coach following the conclusion of the tournament, but does not intend that to be his last job in football.

And Anzhi Makhachkala, who are still searching for a big name to slip into the dugout following their decision to dispense with Gadzhi Gadzhiyev at the end of September, are keen on the Italian.

The Dagestan giants handed Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos the reins on a caretaker basis and the left back has been busy suggesting potential candidates to fill the role full time.

Capello is thought to have had his name put forward by Carlos, though the England coach is already firmly in the thoughts of Anzhi Makhachkala’s billionaire owner Suleyman Kerimov.

Kerimov has declared money to be no object in his pursuit of Capello and his quest to lead the Russian Premier League side to the Champions League.

Capello is currently in Russia, attending a coaches’ conference, and it has been reported by Corriere dello Sport that a meeting between the England boss and Anzhi Makhachkala can be squeezed into the Italian’s tight schedule.
