Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has dismissed speculation that Hamit Altintop could depart the club in the winter transfer window.

Altintop has found securing a regular starting spot in Los Blancos’ midfield to be a difficult task, but Mourinho continues to count on the Turkish international and will not part with him.

Galatasaray had been weighing up a bid, but now their pursuit looks pointless.

"Hamit is a very versatile player", said Mourinho, "and he’s very important to us.

"He will stay here because over the season, with us being involved in three competitions, he’ll be extremely valuable to us."

Altintop joined Real Madrid in the summer, switching from Bayern Munich on a free transfer once his contract with the Bavarian giants expired.
