Serie A side Lazio are standing by to launch a raid on Tottenham Hotspur for Giovani dos Santos.
The Mexican midfielder wants to quit White Hart Lane due to a lack of first team opportunities and was denied a move to Spanish side Sevilla in the summer transfer window.
Los Rojiblancos had been ready to move again for Dos Santos when the winter window opens, but now former player Jose Antonio Reyes, currently at Atletico Madrid, is the club’s primary transfer target.
And this leaves the road to Dos Santos open.
Lazio are eyeing up a bid of €7M for the 22-year-old and hope the offer of a fresh start in Italy will be enough to tempt Dos Santos away from Spain.
La Liga is where the midfielder has enjoyed most success, with spells at Barcelona and Racing Santander; and it is the league to which he has been keen to return.
Dos Santos joined Spurs in 2008 for a fee of €6M.
