Northern Irish striker Rory Donnelly has snubbed interest from Liverpool and Everton to ink a three-and-a-half year deal with Swansea City.

Over the last month the 19-year-old has become one of the hottest properties in British football and offers were made for his services by Everton and Swansea, while Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish held talks with the player and Arsenal sent scouts to check on his performances for Cliftonville.

Swansea had made the first concrete move with a bid of £100,000, though that was soon bettered by Everton – the Welsh side recently returned with an improved offer though and Donnelly was keen to move to the Liberty Stadium.

And the 19-year-old has explained why he felt the need to snub Liverpool and Everton to link up with Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers.

"I was really impressed with what the manager had to say when I met him", the striker told Swansea’s official website.

"He couldn’t have done anything more to impress me.

"I believe I am signing for a brilliant manager who is prepared to give youth a chance. I also met the likes of Scott Sinclair and Joe Allen when I was over here last week and it only reinforced the belief that Swansea is the right club for me.

"I know there was serious interest from Everton and Liverpool, but I love the way Swansea play the game and I think it will suit me.

"The manager has told me there is no pressure on me because I am only 19. In time there will be pressure, but not right now.

"He has shown a lot of faith in me and hopefully I can repay him with plenty of goals."
