Ligue 1 side Dijon are battling to ensure that Chelsea star Gael Kakuta arrives on loan for the second half of the season.

Patrice Carteron’s team have been bullish over the fact that the 20-year-old would join the club in the winter window after enjoying little playing time at Bolton Wanderers during the first half of the campaign.

But Dijon are having to hold off late interest from a number of other clubs including Marseille and Olympiacos – no easy task according to coach Carteron, even if he is optimistic the player wants to move to Les Rouges and Andre Villas-Boas has given the green light to the switch.

"We are in talks with Chelsea", confirmed the Dijon boss.

"I have an agreement with Villas-Boas, but six clubs are interested in the player, including Marseille and Olympiacos, who have put more money on the table.

"But I am lucky that I have convinced the player that it was more interesting for him to come to Dijon for the experience."

Kakuta joined Chelsea in 2007 from French side Lens, a move which caused much controversy.

The Lille-born schemer has represented France at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level.
