Borussia Dortmund have beaten off interest from Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Manchester City for Borussia Monchengladbach star Marco Reus.

The reigning Bundesliga champions will pay €17.5M for the 22-year-old midfielder, who will join Jurgen Klopp’s team at the end of the current campaign.

Reus has been a sensation at Borussia-Park this season, scoring goals from midfield and helping Gladbach to challenge for a spot in Europe.

The youngster, who made his senior Germany debut in 2011, revealed that he feels moving to Dortmund will be a vital next step in his career.

"I want to be clear that this isn’t something against Gladbach, Reus told die Fohlen’s official site.

“But I’ve decided that next season I’ll make the next step and play for a team competing for the title and in the Champions League.

“This is the opportunity that I see at Dortmund.”

Gladbach have confirmed that they did offer Reus a new contract to remain at Borussia-Park, but the schemer had set his heart on moving to the Ruhr.
