Manchester United appear to have slipped behind Valencia in the race for Swedish midfielder Rasmus Elm.

The AZ Alkmaar star is currently rated as the hottest talent in the Dutch Eredivisie and Sir Alex Ferguson’s men have been keen on a deal to take him to Old Trafford.

But the player’s agent, Patrick Mork, believes that a move to La Liga would be one which would suit his client better.

"Valencia is a good choice and an attractive club to Rasmus", Mork told Voetbal Primeur.

Elm is not expected to quit AZ in the current transfer window and has previously insisted he will not let himself be forced to move to a club he does not feel are right for his future development.

The Swedish star is under contract with AZ until 2013.
