Manchester City have trained their eyes on Fiorentina star Stevan Jovetic according to Florence-based daily Corriere Fiorentino.

Roberto Mancini is well aware of the Montenegro international’s talents and can be counted as a long time admirer of the 22-year-old.

And City are weighing up entering the winter market to swoop on La Viola for Jovetic and in the process answering their manager’s call for reinforcements, although snaring the forward from the Serie A giants will not be an easy task.

Jovetic was linked with an exit from Fiorentina last summer, but La Viola worked hard to convince the starlet that his future lies in Florence and the forward inked a contract running until 2016 in October.

Such a deal puts Fiorentina in a strong position and Mancini will have to break the bank to scoop up the fleet-footed goal-getter, with the Italians sure to be looking for a substantial profit on the €8M paid to Partizan Belgrade in 2008.

City will also need to work their powers of persuasion on Jovetic himself with the player only just confirming his belief in the path being taken by La Viola.

"I believe in the future of Fiorentina, I have faith in this project and I have confidence in the club", said Jovetic.
