English Premier League duo Chelsea and Liverpool have received a boost with the news that Bologna’s attacking midfielder Gaston Ramirez is more likely to move abroad than remain in Italy.

The talented Uruguayan has been targeted by both Andre Villas-Boas and Kenny Dalglish, with the former having a slightly longer standing interest which was first revealed back in September.

Since then Ramirez has inked a new contract with the Rossoblu, though it has been speculated that this was done simply to protect the 21-year-old’s value.

There has been serious interest from some of Serie A’s finest sides too, with Juventus, Inter, Roma and Fiorentina all keeping a close eye on the playmaker.

But recently fevered talk has been of Napoli moving swiftly to tie up a deal. Ramirez’ agent Vincenzo D’Ippolito has denied this however, and at the same time suggested his client’s future may lie beyond Italy’s borders.

"Ramirez is interested in playing on the largest Italian and European football stage", D’Ippolito told Radio Kiss Kiss.

"I don’t think Gaston could move to Napoli, it is unlikely that his future is in the ranks of the Azzurri.

"He has some great offers from abroad and I think he could go there."

Bologna are thought to be looking for between €15M and €20M to release the Uruguayan in the summer.
