Chelsea and Inter are both keen on Universidad de Chile defender Igor Lichnovsky, according to the player’s agent.

Lichnovsky is just 17 years old, but has recently been eased into action with Universidad de Chile after a series of sensational performances for the club’s reserve team and with Chile at Under-17 level.

And the centre back has quickly had scouts from Europe flocking to South America, with confirmation from Lichnovsky’s agent that it is English outfit Chelsea and Italian giants Inter who are the most serious about snaring the starlet.

"Inter have joined Chelsea in the race", said Lichnovsky’s agent Rodrigo Robles, before going on to explain that it is the Nerazzurri who have been in recent contact over the youngster.

"The club contacted me in the last few days to get information on what the economic terms of a deal would look like.

"He still has four years on his contract, and Inter would have to first enter into negotiations with his current club."
