Trabzonspor striker Burak Yilmaz has welcomed talk of a move to Arsenal and insisted that if he is to quit the Black Sea Storm, then a switch to Arsene Wenger’s side would be most agreeable.

Sources within Turkey have indicated that the Gunners are looking closely at the 26-year-old hitman as they seek the perfect foil for Robin van Persie, who has too often been left to carry the goalscoring burden alone this season.

Wenger recruited fan favourite Thierry Henry from New York Red Bulls earlier this month, but the Frenchman is merely a loan option to help the Gunners at a critical juncture in the current campaign.

And it would not be a surprise to see Wenger launch a bid for Yilmaz in the summer, a player who has found the back of the net an incredible 25 times in just 20 games in the Turkish Super Lig this season.

"I’m a Trabzonspor player until the end of the season", insisted Yilmaz when questioned about his future by Turkish TV channel TRT1.

"However, if I go abroad, then I’ll be heading in the direction of a big club like Arsenal", the striker added.

Yilmaz, who has been capped 13 times for Turkey, is under contract with Trabzonspor until 2015.
