Serie A duo Bologna and Cagliari want Manchester City winger Vladimir Weiss and are hopeful over doing a deal for the 22-year-old.

Weiss is currently on loan with La Liga outfit Espanyol and has made 19 appearances, scoring four times, for the Spanish side.

The Slovakian has relished his first team opportunities with the Catalan side and appears unlikely to feature at Manchester City next season – indeed, Weiss has had three loan spells away from Eastlands, with Bolton Wanderers, Rangers and now Espanyol, respectively.

Despite being under contract with the Citizens until 2013, it is believed that Roberto Mancini is open to selling Weiss in the summer, with a switch to Italy a real possibility.

And from Serie A there is concrete interest in taking the Slovakian international.

Bologna, who sit 17th and are in the thick of a relegation battle, are understood to be keen on Weiss, while Cagliari, currently in mid-table, are also looking at the possibility of signing the player.

A switch to either would potentially suit Weiss, providing him with a fresh start and realistic chance of first team football.
