Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta has explained that Ligue 1 is a much more physical challenge than Serie A.

The Brazilian midfielder landed at PSG last month from Italian giants Inter, with Carlo Ancelotti’s men paying €10M for his services.

Motta has already become an important part of Ancelotti’s PSG jigsaw, and the player himself believes the switch from Italian football to French has been substantial.

"It’s a different game from that I’ve played before", said Motta.

"I think it’s a very physical league. There’s not much time to develop your game as it’s very a pressing game here.

"Evian and Nice, two opponents who were not ranked highly, made it hard for us with a tight defence. Care must be taken against each team and we’ve got to approach things seriously if we want to win."
