Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has admitted that he has been sounded out over a potential switch to wealthy Russian Premier League outfit Anzhi Makhachkala.

Anzhi’s new coach Guus Hiddink knows all about Obi Mikel from his own time at Stamford Bridge and would surely welcome the Nigerian to the Dagestan giants.

However, the 24-year-old has explained that he is loving life at Chelsea and will not easily decide to move.

"It is true that there has been contact to see if it would be possible for me to go to Russia", Obi Mikel told L’Equipe.

"But I have not yet responded", added the Nigerian.

"I am a Chelsea player and a transfer would not be decided lightly.

"I love Chelsea and I will take my time to make a decision."

Obi Mikel did hint though that his continued presence at Stamford Bridge would be heavily influenced by the amount of first team football he receives.

"My main goal is to play regularly, which has not often been the case so far."
