Kaiserslautern have parted company with coach Marco Kurz.

The side lost 4-1 at home to Schalke at the weekend, a result which has forced Kaiserslautern to opt to change horses.

Kurz leaves Kaiserslautern sitting bottom of the Bundesliga and in a serious fight for survival.

The club have picked up just 20 points from 26 games and are a full six points off safety.

“In order for us to exhaust all possible options to stay in the Bundesliga, we need to try going down another route”, said Kaiserslautern chairman Stefan Kuntz.

Kaiserslautern are next in action in the Bundesliga on Saturday, with a crucial away trip to fellow strugglers Freiburg on the menu.
