Matias Suarez is a more talented striker than Romelu Lukaku – that is the verdict of Anderlecht general manager Herman Van Holsbeeck.

Lukaku was chased by a number of clubs last summer and was eventually sold to Chelsea by the Belgian giants, who retained the services of Argentine forward Suarez.

The 23-year-old has risen to the occasion of Lukaku’s absence and took the Europa League by storm this season until his side were knocked out by AZ Alkmaar in the Round of 16 stage.

Keeping hold of Suarez this coming summer is expected to be a different kettle of fish, with English Premier League giants Arsenal known to hold a serious interest, while Marseille have also had the former Belgrano man watched.

For Van Holsbeeck the interest is no surprise and the Belgian admits that Suarez is more of a finished product than Lukaku was.

"Everyone in the transfer market agrees that Suarez has more talent than Lukaku", Van Holsbeeck told Het Laaste Nieuws.

"Why did Romelu have such a high value? It was his youth and his potential."

Anderlecht could end up replacing Suarez with Lukaku as the Belgian forward looks set to exit Chelsea on loan for next season and a return to his former club is a real possibility.
