Everton defender John Heitinga has revealed that he wants to finish his career with Ajax.

The Dutchman is a product of Ajax’s esteemed youth academy and appeared for the Eredivisie giants between 2001 and 2008, before he was sold to Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid.

Just one year later Heitinga was on the move again, this time to Merseyside club Everton, and at the Toffees is where the 28-year-old has remained.

But thinking of the future, Heitinga is certain that he wants to close out his career back at where it all began, Ajax.

"I want to end my career at Ajax", said the Dutchman to Voetbal International, speaking at the launch of a new website.

"I am 28 years old, I want a few more years abroad and then I would like to return to Ajax."

At present though, the Everton man insists he is enjoying life in England.

"The Premier League is a competition where I feel at home and I’m really enjoying myself.

"So I’m not looking too far ahead, but a return to Ajax is included in my planning."
