Sergio Augero has shot down speculation that he could sign for Barcelona or Real Madrid this summer by insisting he sees Manchester City on exactly the same level as the Spanish giants.

The former Atletico Madrid man took the Premier League by storm in his first season in English football, helping Roberto Mancini’s Citizens to win their first top flight crown since 1968; indeed, Aguero grabbed the dramatic winning goal against QPR on the final day of the season, bringing the trophy to Eastlands.

It has been suggested in Spain that the Argentine is high on Jose Mourinho’s summer wishlist, while Barcelona could also be a potential destination for the 23-year-old.

But Aguero will not play ball as he is loving life at Manchester City.

"I said I would stay and I will stay", Aguero told Radio la Red.

"I still have a four-year contract and I am very happy at Manchester City", he added.

And, the striker insists, there is just no reason to move to one of La Liga’s powerhouses when he is at a club of a comparable size.

"For now, I do not intend to go to another club.

"The idea is to continue here because City is a club at the level of Real Madrid and Barcelona. I am convinced that City is at their level."

Aguero managed 23 goals in 34 Premier League games during the 2011/12 campaign, establishing himself at the Citizens main goal threat.
