The race is hotting up for Sochaux star Marvin Martin.

Lille have set their gaze on snapping up the 24-year-old and appear to be in pole position for the player’s signature, but interest from elsewhere looks set to make the Frenchman’s capture anything but a formality.

Two other Ligue 1 clubs would like to welcome Martin for next season – Lyon and Marseille; although neither can offer the midfield schemer the Champions League football which will be present at Rudi Garcia’s Lille.

Champions League football however is on offer at Valencia, another side with an interest in Martin.

A switch to Spain’s La Liga could appeal to the Paris-born talent and Los Che would offer the perfect introduction to the league.

Wherever Martin ends up for the 2012/13 campaign, Sochaux will be confident of securing a substantial fee for a player under contract until 2014.
