Lille are looking unlikely to win the race for free agent Salomon Kalou after learning of the striker’s wage demands.

Kalou is believed to want €3M per season, a figure which the 2010/11 French champions find too much of a stretch.

Rudi Garcia’s men had hoped that the Ivorian forward might be persuaded to leave English football and move to play in Ligue 1.

But Kalou’s future looks set to continue to be in the Premier League, where his salary expectations can be more comfortably accomodated.

Kalou helped Chelsea to win the FA Cup and Champions League last season, but saw the London giants opt to not renew his contract.

The 26-year-old only managed 12 appearances in last season’s Premier League, scoring just one goal in the process.
