Mathieu Flamini has performed a contract U-turn and penned a new one-year deal with AC Milan.

The French midfielder missed almost all of last season through injury and was restricted to just two Serie A appearances.

Nevertheless, after losing Clarence Seedorf, Mark van Bommel and Gennaro Gattuso, Milan were keen to keep Flamini at the San Siro.

But the Rossoneri would only offer the former Arsenal man less than half of the €5M per year he was collecting as part of his present deal – due to run until 30th June.

Flamini’s initial instinct was to refuse such a cut, and he seemed set for the exit door.

However, after Milan’s offer staying on the table, the Frenchman has U-turned and agreed to sign on reduced wages.

Flamini is now under contract at Milan until 2013.

He joined the Italian giants on a free transfer from Arsenal in 2008.
