Tottenham Hotspur are spying a potential swoop for Inter shot-stopper Julio Cesar if they cannot snare Hugo Lloris from Lyon.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is keen on Lloris and the French number 1 wants to move to White Hart Lane. The sticking point however is the fee to be paid to Les Gones.

The English giants have offered €15M for the 25-year-old, but Lyon have slapped a €20M asking price on Lloris’ head.

And so it is little surprise that Spurs are planning for the eventuality that Lloris does not land at White Hart Lane.

This has led the club to Italy, where Calcio Mercato has revealed Tottenham have begun to show serious interest in Brazilian shot-stopper Julio Cesar.

The 32-year-old looks set to be dislodged from the number 1 spot at Inter by the club’s new signing Samir Handanovic, who was snapped up from Udinese earlier this month.

Inter are now willing to allow Julio Cesar to leave and Spurs would be an appealing destination for the former Flamengo keeper.

The Brazil star has clocked up nearly 300 appearances for the Nerazzurri since joining in 2005 from Chievo and would prove a much cheaper option for Villas-Boas than Lloris.
