Juventus general manger Giuseppe Marotta is keen on snapping up Edin Dzeko from Manchester City in a transfer which could then pave the way for Robin van Persie to land at the Citizens.

Dzeko has long been popular in Turin and Marotta believes the Bosnian hitman would be perfectly suited to life in Serie A.

Now, according to Tuttosport, Juventus’ transfer supremo wants to push through a swoop for the 26-year-old, who is far from guaranteed regular first team football at Eastlands in the new season, as soon as possible.

Competing with Dzeko at the English champions are Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli, while the arrival of Van Persie from Arsenal would further push the former Wolfsburg striker down the pecking order.

Dzeko’s form tailed off somewhat when called upon during the second half of last season’s Premier League-winning campaign and he may be attracted by the more regular playing time on offer in Turin.

Juventus are desperate to sign a world-class striker ahead of the club’s return to the Champions League.

The Bianconeri have been strongly linked with Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, in addition to Van Persie.
