AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has cancelled a planned trip to France to discuss the purchase of Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, due to the vast difference in valuations between the two clubs.

Yanga-Mbiwa has just one year left on his contract at the Stade de la Mosson, but Montpellier are desperate to keep hold of the young centre back, especially with Champions League football on the menu for the new season.

Milan meanwhile have been eyeing Yanga-Mbiwa as a replacement for the now departed Thiago Silva.

But while the Rossoneri have offered €6M for the 23-year-old, Montpellier are demanding €18M.

And it is this price difference which has convinced Galliani to call off a trip to France to discuss the deal with Montpellier officials.

It remains to be seen whether Montpellier will rethink their stance before the end of the transfer window, as with just one year remaining on Yanga-Mbiwa’s contract, he could exit the club for free next summer.
