Despite no fresh news on Arsenal’s pursuit of talented young Caen striker M’Baye Niang, the 17-year-old could still leave the Norman club this summer.

Niang recently spent time training with Arsenal and Arsene Wenger’s men were even reported in some quarters as having sent a €6M offer to Caen for the promising prospect.

The Ligue 2 outfit insisted on 12th July that they had not received any bids for Niang, though in France it is believed an offer was rebuffed.

Niang’s dream of joining one of Europe’s elite this summer is not over though and now the player is on the radar of AC Milan.

According to French daily Le Parisien, Niang recently visited the Rossoneri’s training base and made a positive impression.

Indeed, so much so that Milan have opened negotiations with Caen in an attempt to find an agreement which would see the striker become a Rossoneri player.

While Milan have been cutting costs and notably sold Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain this summer, there is money available to spend.

Rossoneri vice-president Adriano Galliani is attempting to rebuild the side with a number of young talents on which the club can count for the long term; lower wages are also a consideration in this strategy.

It remains to be seen whether Milan will come to terms with Caen, or whether Arsenal will revisit their interest in an attempt to keep the forward out of the clutches of the Rossoneri.
