Striker Danko Lazovic is edging towards signing for Turkish giants Besiktas, according to Turkish daily Hurriyet.

Lazovic currently turns out for Russian champions Zenit St. Petersburg, but Luciano Spalletti’s men have reached an agreement in principle to sell the 29-year-old to the Black Eagles.

The striker, who can also operate as a winger, is now expected to travel to Istanbul this week.

Lazovic joined Zenit in 2010 from Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven and has clocked up 51 appearances for the Russian outfit.

He has helped Zenit to win two successive Russian Premier League titles.

At international level the 29-year-old has won 43 caps for Serbia and scored eleven goals.

Zenit are allowing Lazovic to leave St. Petersburg over his concerns about a lack of playing time; the Serbian has lost his regular starting berth.
