Ibrahim Afellay’s agent has insisted that his client wishes to remain with Barcelona for next season.

The Dutch attacking midfielder appeared to be heading for the exit door when sources in Spain indicated that Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova had explained playing time could not be guaranteed at the Camp Nou for 2012/13.

And with Vilanova wanting to raise money in the transfer market, Afellay, along with full-back Adriano, were identified as potential departures.

Several clubs’ interest in the former PSV Eindhoven man was instantly piqued and 2011 Ligue 1 champions Lille sent a bid to the Catalan giants.

But the Holland international has not yet come to the conclusion that he should leave Spain and his agent, Rob Jansen, believes his client will be staying at the Blaugrana.

"He is not in any way thinking about the possibility of a transfer", said Jansen, before admitting that the midfielder did attract substantial interest.

"There were several clubs interested, but Ibrahim feels very happy at Barcelona and he wants to stay."
