Defender Raul Albiol has extended his contract with Real Madrid.

The Spaniard was linked with the exit door at points last season due to a lack of playing time at the Bernabeu – he made only ten appearances in La Liga.

But it appears his fears have been addressed by coach Jose Mourinho, as the former Valencia man has put pen to paper on a new deal that runs until 2017.

And Albiol is now in the mood to finish his career with Los Blancos.

"I’m really excited and I want to stay on at the club", the defender told Real Madrid’s official site.

"I’m very happy here and I hope to be here until I retire", added the 26-year-old.

Albiol joined Real Madrid in 2009 from Valencia, with Los Blancos shelling out €15M to snare his services.
